The Texas Triangle
Finding that perfect piece of waterfront property onthe Texas Coast can be a daunting task. In this post we'll share why Galveston and Corpus are so popular and where to look if you want something away from the hustle and bustle of the bigger coastal towns.
The "Texas Triangle" consists of the 5 biggest cities in Texas and a poplulation of 22 million people. When those folks decide to go to the coast, they jump on highway 45, 35 or 37, set the cruise control for 80 mph and head South East until they see water or Buc-ee's.
Those major highways take you straight to Galveston (Hwy 45) or Corpus (Hwy 37), so, over the years, those destinations have grown and grown. Today, there are some beautiful properties that can be had for a pretty penny.
The bigger cities of Galvaston and Corpus have shopping, resturants and plenty of public beaches.
But what if you want to get away from the crowds?
The Hidden Gem of Texas
From Austin, find state highway 173, set your cruise control at 70ish and enjoy the scenery. Just a quick 2 1/2 hour drive (90 minutes from Houston) and you're in the quaint little town of Palacios.
Stop for lunch at Danny's or Tran's for surprisingly great food and views of Tres Palacios Bay.
Then, drive along the stunning seawall with fishing piers and picnic spots as you head over to the gated community of Beachside.
Beachside TX
If relaxing is at the top of your list, you'll feel the stress melt away as you pass through the gates and head toward the community lighthouse.
The sea breezes keep the "feels like" temp down 10-15 degrees and the views are specatular.
Stop at the clubhouse and enjoy the resort quality pool or, better yet, head to one of the only truly private beaches in Texas.
Hidden at the far end of of the pennisula with Matagorda Bay on one side and Turtle Bay on the other, the private community beach is the perfect place for some quite time on the sand of a BBQ with fiends.
Be sure to watch for dolphins on the way back, too!
Beachside by the Numbers
Waterfront Community
As you can see, prices at Beachside are significantly lower, the location is surpisingly close, and you can still buy a waterfront lot way under a million dollars!
What's more, is Beachside includes things like RV and boat storage, property maintenance and underground city utilities in their extremely low POA dues (see above).
